Cup of Tea
The snow is falling and magically turning my typical suburban back yard into a beautiful winter garden. Thankfully, my kids are on winter break so we can just hang out and enjoy it. I decided to brew a cup of tea using herbs I grew in the garden over the summer and then dried and jarred. It can be hard to slow down and be in the moment so I went for lavender to help me relax and mint to help me focus. Drinking a cup of tea is a kind of meditation for me. Each step is a chance to be mindful. Pouring the water, watching it change from clear to a beautiful shade created by the infusion of the herbs, the warmth of the cup in my hands and each sip. Whats nice about this ritual is that it does not take much time at all and you can easily do this for yourself if you need a little mental reboot. Herbal teas are another wonderful way we can support ourselves physically, emotionally and spiritually.
